Addressing tips for Switzerland
- Postcodes have four digits and are written to the left of the town name. UPU's specimens have no country prefix: 2544 BETTLACH.[1]
- A PO box address adds a line after the street with the box number (Case postale 12), and the town line names the post office that holds the box: 1211 GENEVA 6.[1]
- When a locality name is not unique, add the abbreviated canton after it: 1556 CERNIAZ VD.[1]
- Canton abbreviations are two letters: AG, AI, AR, BE, BL, BS, FR, GE, GL, GR, JU, LU, NE, NW, OW, SG, SH, SO, SZ, TG, TI, UR, VD, VS, ZG, ZH.[1]
- The specimens write the town in capitals (BETTLACH, GENEVA 6).[1]

Questions about sending mail to Switzerland
- How long does mail to Switzerland take?
- We estimate 3โ5 business days after mailing. It is an estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date, and the count starts on the day we mail your letter, not the day you order.
- Can I send a letter to Switzerland from another country?
- Yes. You order online from wherever you are, and we print and mail the letter for you, so you don't need stamps or a trip to the post office. Once your order is assigned, its page shows the country it was mailed from.
- Can I add a return receipt to a letter to Switzerland?
- Yes. Choose Registered letter and add the return receipt. The recipient signs on delivery and the signed receipt is posted back to the sender address on your letter. A sender address is required.
- Can I track a letter to Switzerland?
- Yes, with a tracked or registered letter. Tracking updates depend on the postal networks along the way, so they may not cover every step. Your order page shows the updates we receive.
- Do I write CH- before a Swiss postcode?
- UPU's Swiss specimens show the postcode on its own, with no prefix: 2544 BETTLACH.[1]
- What is the canton abbreviation for?
- When several localities share a name, UPU asks for the two-letter canton after the town, as in 1556 CERNIAZ VD. Type it into the town field.[1]
- How do I address a Swiss PO box?
- Add the box number on a line after the street (Case postale 12) and name the post office in the town line (1211 GENEVA 6).[1]
