Addressing tips for Ireland
- The Eircode is a seven-character postcode with a space after the first three characters, written on its own line below the locality: T37 F8HK.[1]
- A standard address has up to eight lines: addressee, organisation, house number and street, locality, post town, county (unless it is the same as the town), Eircode, country.[1]
- Dublin postal districts follow the post town: DUBLIN 24.[1]
- Avoid punctuation and underlining, use no more than 32 characters per line (not counting spaces) and delete empty lines.[1]
- The specimens write the locality, county and Eircode in capitals.[1]

Questions about sending mail to Ireland
- How long does mail to Ireland take?
- We estimate 4โ6 business days after mailing. It is an estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date, and the count starts on the day we mail your letter, not the day you order.
- Can I send a letter to Ireland from another country?
- Yes. You order online from wherever you are, and we print and mail the letter for you, so you don't need stamps or a trip to the post office. Once your order is assigned, its page shows the country it was mailed from.
- Can I add a return receipt to a letter to Ireland?
- Yes. Choose Registered letter and add the return receipt. The recipient signs on delivery and the signed receipt is posted back to the sender address on your letter. A sender address is required.
- Can I track a letter to Ireland?
- Yes, with a tracked or registered letter. Tracking updates depend on the postal networks along the way, so they may not cover every step. Your order page shows the updates we receive.
- Where does the Eircode go in an Irish address?
- On its own line below the locality (and county), with a space after the first three characters: D24 TF12.[1]
- Do I need to write the county in an Irish address?
- UPU's standard address includes the county unless it is the same as the town. MaisonMail's form has no county field, so the Eircode identifies the address.
